Step 4: Check Connectivity
Open a Command Prompt window and use the ping command along with the service's IPv4 address. You can find each service's IPv4 address on the wiki. Do not use a service's domain name, if any. Reference the examples and photos below to see how to format the command properly.
❌ ping example.maxshub.net
❌ ping 172.20.133.57:125565
❌ ping172.20.133.57
✅ ping 172.20.133.57
(photo to be added)
This command will attempt to reach the supplied IP address four times. After each of the four attempts, you will see an entry in the command prompt letting you know the results. After a few seconds, all four attempts should be complete and you should see four lines with results.
- Reply from 172.20.133.57: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=128
If all four lines look similar to the one above (obviously the IP address and time will be different) then proceed to the next step. - Request timed out.
VPN Users: Try disconnecting and reconnecting to the VPN via the ZeroTier UI. If you still see request timed out, there may be an issue on my end or on yours that will require further troubleshooting. Reach out to Max directly with support code3vrto.
IP Whitelist Users: Something between your device any my service is dropping your connection to me. You may have antivirus that is blocking the connection or your gateway may be blocking traffic it deems suspicious. Reach out to Max directly with support code3rto. - Mixture of the two above
Try running the command again. You can press the up arrow to recall the command. If it's still showing a mix then try running the ping command but with a popular service, such asping 1.1.1.1. If that too provides a mix then that is indicative of you having an unstable internet connection which will cause many things to break or not work. If that command does not produce a mix and only pinging one of my services does then reach out to Max with support code2mix. - Destination host unreachable
VPN Users: Something may be wrong with your ZeroTier installation. Reach out to me directly with support code2vdho.
IP Whitelist Users: This usually indicates that your gateway (whatever device is currently responsible for giving you an internet connection) is extremely restrictive and may be blocking the request. While we can't guarantee we can help, you can reach out to Max directly with support code2dho. - Neither of the above
I'm scared. Reach out to Max directly with support codeohno.
