Connect to a Garry's Mod Server

You normally will not be able to see the server in the normal server browser (Find Multiplayer Game > Internet). You should instead use one of the methods below.
You should only use either of these methods once. After you've connected at least one time, the server can be found in Find Multiplayer Game > History. Doing this or using the console are usually the quickest ways to connect.
There are two methods you can use to connect to a server. We recommend using the console as it is the easiest method.
Use the Console
Step 1: Open the Console
The default key to open the console is the ` key. In older versions of Garry's Mod, the console is disabled by default.
Step 2: Enter Server Details
If the server has a password, use the password command first.
To connect to a server, use the connect command.
Example: If the server address is "gmod.bruhmoment.com" and its password is "bruhdeez," you would use password bruhdeez and then connect gmod.bruhmoment.com.
You only need to use the password command once. If you're reconnecting to the same server (or it has the same password), you do not need to re-enter the password command.
The Garry's Mod console will remember commands you use even after closing the game. As you type the connect command after using it once, you should see an auto-fill option.
Use the Legacy Browser
Step 1: Open Legacy Browser
Click Find Multiplayer Game from the main menu and then click Legacy Browser on the left sidebar.
Step 2: Switch to Favorites Tab
Step 3: Add Server By IP Address
Right-click anywhere in the white space and click Add server by IP address , or click Add a Server at the bottom-right of the browser.
Step 4: Enter Server Details
Paste the server's address into the text box and click Find games at this address... . The server should appear in the list. If the server does not show up in the list, make sure you are entering the address correctly. If the server still does not show, use the connection issues guide.
Step 5: Add Server
Click Add selected game server to favorites .
You can now find the server in your Favorites list. You can connect to it either by double-clicking it in the list or clicking once and then clicking the Connect button at the bottom-right of the server browser. Additionally, you can use the Favorites section of the normal server browser (not the legacy browser) as they are synced.
