Using GriefPrevention
In almost all of our Minecraft servers, usage of GriefPrevention is optional but at your own risk.
GriefPrevention is a plugin that allows you to claim land so that others can’t build in your claims. You can give others access to your claim or split up your claim so certain areas are available to others.
Create a Claim
There are two ways to create a claim: place a chest or use a golden shovel.
Place a Chest
Placing a chest will create a 9x9 square claim around the chest. The four corners of the claim will appear in-game temporarily so you can see the claim’s area.
| Step 1: Craft a chest. | Step 2: Place the chest. | Step 3: Enjoy your claim! |

Use a Golden Shovel
Using a golden shovel is normally how you will make claims except for when you're first starting out.
Allow Others to Use Your Claim
There are a few different commands you can use to allow others to have access to your claims. When you use these commands, it matters where you’re standing! If you’re inside a claim, these commands will only apply to that specific claim. If you’re outside a claim, these commands will apply to all of your claims.
/trust <username>- Complete access to your claims, as if they weren’t there./accesstrust <username>- Use buttons, levers, and beds./containertrust <username>- Chests, crops, animals, and everything from [accesstrust]./trustlist- List currently set permissions for your claim. (Does not show inherited trust)/untrust <username>- Revokes any trust from the player.
See Where Claims Are & Their Info
It’s hard to remember exactly where you made your claim, and you won’t know where other players’ claims are unless they tell you. GriefPrevention has a tool for this, and it’s…a stick?
| Step 1: Get a stick. | Step 2: Right click anywhere. | Step 3: See claims, if any. |

The stick checks the exact, singular block you’re looking at and not the area around it. Even if the block just next to where you clicked is claimed, you will not see that unless you click on the claimed block.
When you click a block with a stick, the server will check if that block is claimed. If it is, you will see output in the chat letting you know who it’s claimed by, and you will see the claim borders show up on the ground. One cool trick about the stick is that it doesn’t care about your reach distance. You can click a block far away in the distance and it will check to see if it’s claimed.
Resize Claims
Resizing claims is pretty simple. Just click any corner of an existing claim and then click where you want it to be moved to. Using the stick is helpful to find where the corners currently are.
| Step 1: Find a corner you want to move. | Step 2: Right click it to begin moving. |

Subdivide Claims
Sometimes, you may want to give someone access only to a specific part of your claim. Maybe you want them to have access to your farm but not your house. This can be configured easily with subdivided claims.
While inside a subdivided claim, trust commands you use will only apply to the subdivision. By default, a new subdivided claim inherits any trust on the parent claim. If you gave someone /trust access and then made a subdivided claim, they will still have access in the subdivided claim. Permissions will continue to inherit even after you make the subdivision and modify trust on the parent claim.
You can stop this by using /restrictsubclaim while standing inside the subdivided claim. This will make the subdivided claim have its own trust list. Note that using /trustlist while inside the subdivided claim will not show inherited trust.
Delete Claims
There are a few commands you can use to delete claims.
/abandonclaim- Deletes the claim you’re currently in./abandontoplevelclaim- Like abandonclaim but also deletes subdivisions./abandonallclaims- Deletes all of your claims.
